Category: Cinema. Sandip Ray is a film director from Kolkata and the only son of greatest Indian film director all time, Satyajit Ray. His mother Bijoya Ray is also a noted film personality who has worked and sang in a few Bengali movies in the black and white era. He has also directed a few documentary films as well as television serials.

Paran Bandopadhyay is an Indian Bengali film, television and stage actor based in Kolkata.

He is also a versatile photographer and has worked as the director of photography on Satyajit Ray's last three films, Ganashatru , Shakha Proshakha and Agantuk His great-grandfather Upendrakishore Ray was a famous writer, composer and technologist. His grandfather, Sukumar Ray was a noted Bengali humorous poet and playwright. Sandip was born in Kolkata on September 8, He started his career assisting his father at the age of Shatranj Ke Khiladi was his first movie as an assistant director.

As a debutant director, his first movie was released in the year - Phatik Chand. He has also worked with Sandesh, the children magazine founded by his great-grandfather Upendrakishore Ray. From , after the death of Satyajit, he became its joint editor and in the year , he became its editor. Most recently he has published a book, Aami aar Feluda which accounts his memories related to the popular Bengali television serial Feluda directed by his father.
